House of Ikons, the prestigious off schedule show during London Fashion Week organized by Savîta Kayê will house a consortium of high end and luxury manufactures this season. The show which takes place twice a year at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington has introduced a new exhibition center dedicated to producers from all over the world who are willing to work with picky British designers.

Designers in the UK are known to be fussy, always wanting new materials, and sampling with manufactures for months before they start placing orders. They have always been in search for good manufacturing units, specially those which can do small runs and offer the complete service from cutting their patterns, helping them find fabrics, source embellishments and finally producing their creations.

Savîta Kayê aims to put and end to this problem by teaming up with virtual trade show platform Fashionablyin. “I know just so many designers, that need to find good factories to produce their lines. They get orders from the best of the stores but can’t deliver, because their not finding the right factories” states Savîta who claims they have solved this by enrolling manufactures who are even ready to produce just one garment. The idea stemmed when Savîta and founder of Fashionablyin, Tarun Thadani realized this serious gap in the market where young British designers could not take their businesses to the next level.

The “Manufacturing for Designers” trade show will run alongside the House of Ikon’s shows on the 16th & 17th of February and will house British aswell as overseas factories who specialize in this segment. Savîta who supports British manufacturing emphasizes that the lack of techniques, unavailability of fabrics and high costs make manufacturing in the UK just not feasible for many designers and this show gives them all the options.
